Born and raised in Barbados, Creative Director Joy Archer graduated from internationally renowned KLC School of Design in Chelsea, London, after a successful City career as a Commissioning Editor within finance. She went on to hone her professional design experience by spending seven years working for some of the most highly regarded studios in the UK, including Louise Jones Interiors, Godrich Design Collective and Tala Fustok.
The Studio's mission is to create individual habitats which are centred around the experiences and lifestyle of the dwellers. Every project takes shape through a creative response to the unique persons, places and settings which, in combination with the skill of artisans, ensures rooms that are highly liveable, charismatic and ever lasting.
Joy has recently been listed by House and Garden magazine as one of their favourite interior designers on their List.
A recent project was featured on NBC's Open House, Season 15 (2022).
Concept design, measured site surveys, construction drawings, finishes, lighting, furniture, soft furnishings, art and accessories specifications, final site dressing and curating
When a house requires a major overhaul Wilder Joy Studio considers the functionality of each room, and also looks at the house as a whole - how the spaces flow and whether they might be reconfigured to work better for the client’s lifestyle. We also make design decisions regarding the building’s fabric, from staircases and internal doors, to cornices and built-in joinery so that every detail of the interior looks absolutely right.
STAGE 1 - A meeting is held to explore the scope of the work and the wishes of the client
STAGE 2 - The overall design aesthetic, functionality and flow of the property is established vis floor plans and concept image boards
STAGE 3 - All aspects of the kitchen and bathrooms are designed and the fixed elements of the property are specified including the lighting schemes, wall and floor finishes, bespoke joinery, fireplaces and internal ironmongery
STAGE 4 - A full decorative scheme is proposed covering paint, wallpaper, soft furnishings and fabric as well as decorative lighting, window treatments and furniture
STAGE 5 - A comprehensive budget document is produced detailing everything to be procured on behalf of the client. This enables us to monitor lead times and order status while ensuring the costs are in line with client expectations
STAGE 6 - We are on site to oversee a smooth and efficient installation and final dressing
